A YNAB alternative
with a free plan and your investments.

YNAB is a great budgeting app, but it is paid-only, it keeps one currency per plan and it tracks investments only as a balance you type in. Moneydy puts spending, budgets, savings, stocks and crypto in one place, in euros, dollars or reais, and it starts free.

  • Free plan, no time limit

Which one fits you.

If most of the left column is you, stay with YNAB. Honestly.

YNAB is the better pick if

You want the method and the sync

You want transactions to arrive from your bank on their own, you like the zero-based method and its workshops, and you want native phone apps. That is what the subscription pays for, and YNAB does it well.

Moneydy is the better pick if

You want everything in one number

You would rather not hand an app your bank login, you hold money in more than one currency, or you want spending, savings, stocks and crypto to add up to one net worth. And you want to start without paying.

Filing taxes in Portugal?

An IRS report comes with it

Moneydy matches every stock and crypto sale to its purchases, first in first out, and sorts the result by the annex of the Portuguese return. Free on every plan.

Switching takes an evening.

Start from your bank, or bring your YNAB history with you.

  1. 01

    Add your accounts

Current account, savings, credit card, cash: each with today's balance and its own currency.

  2. 02

Import a few months of statements

Export CSV or Excel files from your bank and drop them in. Starter rules categorise the usual merchants, duplicates and transfers are flagged, and you review every line before it is saved.

Coming from YNAB? Open an account, select its transactions and export them: the file imports as it is, one account at a time. Your YNAB categories don't carry over; your rules sort the lines instead.

  3. 03

    Set your budgets and bills

A limit per category, your recurring bills and income, and the balance forecast fills itself in. Add your stocks and crypto whenever you like.

Frequently asked questions.

Is Moneydy really free?

Yes. The free plan has no time limit and covers up to 30 transactions a month, 2 accounts, 12 monthly budgets and 3 investments. Premium removes the limits and adds statement import for €2.99 a month or €19.99 a year, and every new account gets 14 days of Premium without a credit card.

Does Moneydy connect to my bank?

No, on purpose. You export your statement from your bank as CSV or Excel and import it: Moneydy finds the date and amount columns, your rules pick the categories and you review every line before it is saved. No app ever holds your bank login.

Can I budget the YNAB way in Moneydy?

Not exactly. Moneydy has no zero-based ready-to-assign pot. You set a budget for the month and a limit per category, and each category shows what is left as you spend. If giving every dollar a job is what keeps you on track, YNAB does that better.

Which currencies does Moneydy support?

Euros, US dollars and Brazilian reais. Each account keeps its own currency, and totals are converted to yours with the European Central Bank's rates.

Can I try it before I sign up?

Yes. The demo opens an account already filled with sample data, with no sign-up. It is deleted after 24 hours.
